Jannike is a singer/musician from Finland. Her childhood is described using the words from Abba´s famous song, as saying; „Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk. She says I began to sing long before I could talk“.
Jannike was accepted to the famous Sibelius-Academy where she began studying music. In the year 2008 Jannike auditioned for the Finnish version of „American Idol“ and got through. She ended up finishing in 9th place in the whole competition and received a taste of fame for a short while. After „Idols“ Jannike continued studying, teaching music and working on her own music projects.
After a break, Jannike recorded music again in 2012, this time in Swedish. „Bara Stunden“ was often played on Swedish radio. In 2013 a Christmas-song followed, and in February 2014 Jannike´s first single in English „I don´t believe in Fairy tales“ was released – and received much airplay on the radio in Sweden – and even in Spain.
In April 2014 Jannike met songwriter Linda Thompson (Elvis´s last girlfriend who wrote hits such as „I have nothing“ by Whitney Houston). Linda liked Jannike´s voice and wanted to work with her. As a result, the tune „Hallowed Ground“ (+ video) was released. Jannike first performed the song at the Christmas Concert „Joulu Mielelle“ (broadcast on MTV3 in December). The song spent 12 weeks as #1 on the chart Vegatoppen (Radio Vega) before dropping to #2. Surprisingly, the following week it went back to #1 again and Jannike was called the most popular artist of the channel. It also reached #5 on Radio Suomi, the largest radio station in Finland. The story plus video were featured on several large websites as well.
Jannike´s third single, Into the Sun, came out in May and went straight to #1 on the chart Vegatoppen while Hallowed Ground was still #2. Several big radio stations such as Radio Vega, Radio Suomi (where it debuted as #8) and Sisuradio in Sweden picked the single so far. The video is featured on many international music sites and blogs.
Jannike’s new single “Sorry for yourself” will be released in the GSA countries on 26-January-2018. The song is very special to Jannike, who will be performing a few acoustic shows in Germany (Feb-1, Berlin), and she can’t wait to share her story with you. Last summer’s single „Hug Me“ made it into the German Radio Airplay Top 200, peaking #14 on German Conservative airplay charts. „Hug Me“ was also #1 at english-speaking radio station Global Radio FM in Costa del Sol in Spain.
